Dogtooth gets a pick up from Kino.

The surreal family affair Dogtooth has finally picked up by Kino International. This is really great news for the most anticipated films of this year. The worldwide sales will be handling the worldwide sales and French distribution.

This was one of the surprises of this years Cannes. It picked up the top prize at the Certain Regard part of the festival. The film will be screened at the Contemporary World Cinema Section at these years Toronto Film Festival. There is surely a chance to catch this one at various venues around the US.

The film is a metaphysical film that is akin to some great literary masterpieces like the The Little Prince. When a deranged parent thinks that the only way to tame his children is to cut them off from the world.

The president of Kino International had this to say about the film, “It’s a hilarious absurdist statement about the complications of life in the 21st century.”

Lanthimos has been winning at several festivals with a recent win at the Sarajevo International Film Festival, while the actors in the film were also conferred with prizes.

So the film will have its first release in its home country on October 22. The trailer from the movie and some pics can be checked out.
