Steven Soderbergh plans 3D release of Contagion

Steven Soderbergh is seriously considering the possibility of 3D.

This is not really good news for the film with such a stellar cast of stars. Steven Soderbergh will be taking this film to the 3D screens now. It is written by Scott Z. Burns starring a cluster of stars like Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, Marion Cotillard and Laurence Fishburne.

Warner Bros sent out a swarm of release dates for their 2011 calendar. Contagion will be releasing next year in October. It will be released during the Oscar season of that year. The film will be marketed as a action thriller. It will be more dramatic than most thrillers with so many stars. Soderbergh will be trying to make a follow up to his powerful Traffic which made him get an Oscar.

So the director is known to take leaps for most of his productions. So this will be something to look out for. What will he give to the new form of expression in cinema by 3D. James Cameron will also help him solve some of the issues he will face while shooting the film.

James Cameron was one of the onset producers for his space film called Solaris. So it will be nice to have him over on this film as well. So Soderbergh has the cast for this film. But will the human element get lost in all the 3D effect is the question.
