Lars Von Trier works the apocalypse in reverse

Lars Von Trier works his way from the end.

After the notorious success of his last film at the Cannes last year with Antichrist, Lars Von trier will be working on another apocalyptic film. The film will star Charlotte Gainsbourg, Alexander and Stellan Skarsgard, John Hurt, Kirsten Dunst and Kiefer Sutherland.

The film is called Melancholia and Lars Von Trier had this to say about the production of the film.

In ‘Melancholia’ I start with the end. Because what is interesting is not what happens but how it happens! So we begin by seeing the world being crushed, then we can tell the story afterwards.

So the film will be working in reverse. The awareness of the destruction will be clear to the audience in the outset and he will be working his way from there. This will be something to watch out for in the coming weeks. We will keep you posted.
