Here are couple of new images from the Julie Taymor movie The Tempest. It looks really visual and decked with some really good costumes. The film will be opening at the Venice Film Festival in September and will be hitting theaters on December 10 th.
The film stars Russell Brand, Helen Mirren, Alfred Molia, Djimon Hounsou, Alan Cumming, Chris Copper, Ben Whishaw and David Strathairn.
There will be a twist in the famous Shakespeare tale in the form of Mirren playing Prospera and she reigns over the magical island. All the elements like the romance, politics and the supernatural will be revisited for the big screen. It will focus on Prospera, her daughter Miranda and a shipwrecked crew full of Propera’s enemies.
The rest of the cast includes Russell Brand as Trinculo, Alfred Molina as Stephano, Djimon Hounsou as Caliban, Alan Cumming as Sebastian, Chris Cooper as Antonio, Ben Whishaw as Ariel and David Strathairn as Alonso.
Tempest has a lot of special effects work done on it for the time being so there might be a delay in production. Check out the images above and tell us what you think about Helen Mirren as Prospera.
