Kristen Bell takes some Whales

Another good novel Whales bites the dust.

Kristen Bell is now excited on working with Drew Barrymore and John Kranski on Ken Kwapis’ next film called Whales. It is based on the non fiction novel titled Freeing the Whales. The story follows three California Gray whales who were discovered imprisoned in the Artic Ice in 1980, and media madness that spawned around the rescue which captured the imaginations of hundreds of millions of people.

The movie will be set in the Cold War era 1988 and it tells the true story of a small town news reporter played by John Krasinski and a Greenpeace volunteer played by Barrymore who enlists the help of rival superpowers to save three majestic gray whales trapped under the ice of the Arctic Circle. Bell will play a reporter from Los angeles aiming for the big time who thinks her greatest assets are her looks.

By the looks of it this is going to be a very poor adaptation by the director. So this will be something of a sad commercial film which will go down as yet another poor work of fiction.
