Hal Holbrook has some of the most beautiful moments in this new trailer for Water for Elephants. He really seems to pull the carpets from under stars like Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz. It is not every time we feature a movie with Robert Pattinson in it. It is certainly the powerful performance of Hal Holbrook that has caught our eye in this. Christopher Waltz will be playing a lesser villain than the one he played in Inglourious Basterds. Reese Witherspoon is just there to add some star power and some Oscar credentials.
The trailer is beautiful and it is only in the end that it comes together. It leaves you with a really soft feeling. Hollywood cinema has sort of missed out on that in the last couple of years. Water for Elephants shares the life of a man named Jacob, who, when his parents died, dropped out of Cornel veterinary school amidst his final exams and joined a second rate circus during the Great Depression. The trainer Waltz beats the animals and has a fiery temper, which isn’t helped by the fact that Jacob falls for his wife, also in the circus.
The film is expected to hit theaters as soon as April 15th next year.
