The cast of the original thriller The Retreat has become better every passing day. It is a thriller about a husband and wife who have a strange encounter with a soldier while taking an island retreat. Thandie Newton has been confirmed for the film as well as Cillian Murphy.
Now there is also Jamie Bell added to the mix. Deadline were the first to get hold of the news that Jamie Bell will be part of the cast. Cillian Murphy will play the husband, which leaves Bell to play the soldier they encounter.
The Retreat follows a couple seeking to rebuild their relationship by taking time out on a remote. From here on it gets really interesting. But their peace is shattered when they find a man in military uniform half dead on their doorstep who tells them there is a lethal virus killing millions on the mainland. Carl Tibbets wrote the script of the film.
I think the studio got sold by the idea. But the treatment will matter a lot for the success of this film. It will be a psychological thriller with a lot of twists and wasted time.
