James Franco in talks to make Child of God

James Franco is taking on all kinds of ambitious projects.

He was already in talks to make a Blood Meridian Adaptation that got shelved now he is planning to write another Cormac McCarthy adaptation called Child of God. James Franco was getting a lot of eyeballs for trying to attempt both As I Lay Dying the William Faulkner adaptation and Blood Meridian.

Child of God is the third book written by McCarthy, who won the Pulitzer Prize for his post apocalyptic novel, the Road. He is better known for the mass going No Country for Old Men. So James Franco is treading a difficult path by taking some of Cormac’s more inaccessable work.

Child of God must by the most sympathetic portrayal of necrophilia in all of literature. The hero, Lester Ballard, is expelled from his human family and ends up living in underground caves, which he peoples with his trophies: giant stuffed animals won in carnival shooting galleries and the decomposing corpses of his victims.
