Trailer Watch: The Conspirator looks like a washout

Robert Redford seems to have lost it with this new film adaptation.

James McAvoy will be playing a man who defends those who conspired to kill Abraham Lincoln in the trailer for the expected Robert Redford movie The Conspirator.

James McAvoy tries to defend a woman caught in between assassination of Abraham. She is accused of collaborating with John Wilkes Booth to assassinate President Abraham Lincoln in the 19th Century courtroom drama, The Conspirator.

McAvoy will play Frederick Aiken, a 28 year old Civil War vet who fought for the Union, but is now a lawyer tasked with defending Mary Surratt. She is the owner of a boarding house where over half a dozen men assembled to plan out the murder of the 16th US president. What the court, not having access to Lincoln’s personal diaries, fails to realize is that this was actually all just the work of a lone blood sucking creature of the night with a vendetta against Honst Abe for slaughtering their brethren.

The cast should be a reason to get to the theater. But we might just give this one a pass if there is no more merit than this silly theater. The Courtroom arrives in US theaters on April 15th 2011.
