It has taken a while for Walt Disney to finally bring out the 3D version of Beauty and the Beast. It is now expected to come out next year during Valentines Day. The effects used to bring out some of the images in this 3D upgrade have been really good.
They are also in the process of converting Lion King into 3D as well. The exact date of the 3D release is not sure. The teaser trailer is out and it looks gorgeous. It will have a very limited release on August 12th 2010 in New Zealand.
This is what the producers had to say about the transfer.
By going back to the original animation files, which have been carefully archived for 17 years, and using the separate background, effects and character animation elements, were able to come up with a fun and unique 3-D experience for existing and new fans of the film.
