M. Night has finally signed on Will Smith and this will be the first since Signs he will be working with a bonafide star. Will Smith and his son will be part of the next project from the director.
The director has been going through the worse time in his career. His last film had the worst 3D conversion in recent times. Shymalan also directed two other misses also with The Happening and Lady in the Water and the powerful The Village. Will Smith has finally signed on the dotted line for the project.
The story is set 1000 years in the future and will tell the story of a young boy and his estranged father who explore a vacant Earth after their ship crashes. It is uncertain whether the film will have Shyamalan’s signature twist, though Sony described the pic as sometimes scary.
Shyamalan worked on the script with Gary Whitta. Smith is known to take big risks with his films. This will also be another time that Smith has taken a little known directors. This time round he will be working with a director that is really down on his luck.

Now with the actor’s father also joining the project this will be surely something to watch out for.
