Garcia Bernal teams up with Pacino

Gael Garcia Bernal is on the road to greatness.

He will be playing the five time world boxing champ Roberto Duran in Hands of Stone. Al Pacino is also circling a part in this film. The rest of the cast includes Ray Arcel and Oscar Jaenada to play a key role.

The film will be directed by Jonathan Jakubowicz and it is based on his own screenplay. Roberto Duran made his professional debut in 1968 as a 16 year old retired in 2002 at age 50. The boxing world shot when he returned from a fight saying no mas.

The no mas fight will be something of an enigma and it will be what the film will explore. Hands of Stone will shoot mainly in English in Panama, where Duran was born, and New York next spring. Gael really needs a break after doing that awful movie with Amanda Seyfried.
